A collection of 8 very rare Steinheil lenses, some as small as a fingernail. Listed by serial numbers with detailed information according to Hartmut Thiele's 'Fabrikationsbuch Steinheil Objektive': (1) Periskop Landschafts Aplanat 5 Lin no.2719 in original lens mount, produced January 29th, 1866 in a batch of 12 lenses (2713-2724), delivered to Talbot Paris and others (total height: 2cm, lens diameter: 1.4cm, total diameter: 4.5cm), (2) Periskop 7 Lin no.2866 in original lens mount with one water house stop, produced July 5th, 1866 in a batch of 6 lenses (2866-2871), delivered to Talbot Paris and others (total height: 2.2cm, lens diameter: 1.8cm, total diameter: 3.9cm), (3) Aplanat B 3 Lin no.5072 in original lens mount, produced February 16th, 1871 in a batch of 2 lenses (5071 & 5072), delivered to Dr. Vogel Berlin (total height: 2cm, lens diameter: 0.8cm, total diameter including flange: 5.8cm), (4) Landschafts Aplanat 14mm no.9971 in original lens mount, with rotating diaphragm blade, produced May 26th, 1880 in a batch of 2 lenses (9970 & 9971, total height: 4.6cm, lens diameter: 1.5cm, total diameter including flange: 8.7cm), (5) Landschafts Aplanat 3mm no.11560 in original lens mount, produced March 8th, 1883 as a unique lens (total height: 2.2cm, lens diameter: 0.5cm, total diameter including flange: 5.4cm), (6) the smallest lens of this collection and probably the smallest brass lens ever made for actual use, Landschafts Aplanat 5mm no.15195 in original lens mount, produced January 29th, 1886 in a batch of 14 lenses (15195-15208), delivered to J. van Neck Brüssel (total height including original front cap: 1.6cm, lens diameter: 0.5cm, total diameter including flange: 1.9cm), (7+8) a pair of Gruppen Antiplanet 9mm lenses nos.42348 & 43958 in original lens mount, made on June 26th, 1896 (in a batch of 4 lenses, 42346-423489) and on November 5th, 1897 (in a batch of 6 lenses, 43954-43959), total height: 1.5cm, lens diameter: 0.9cm, total diameter including flange: 2.5cm)
