The ivory silk parasol with folding wooden handle and carved bone finial at one end and carved bone tip at the other containing an image of a composite group of portraits "From the Cradle to the Grave, James Garfield" (image fair), 26 1/4" long. Ex Spira Collection. Garfield, the 20th president of the United States was shot by an assassin on July 2, 1881 but died 80 days later mainly from poor medical care.
