Leica M4 black paint 'Richard Young' *

Rare, early Leica M4 black paint, from the second batch of 200 cameras. Owned and used by known English photographer Richard Young. The camera shows notable signs of wear,  as well as a dent in the left corner. It comes with an M-Rokkor 2/40mm no.2107008 and a strap.

Richard Young, an esteemed English photographer, began his illustrious career in 1974, capturing the essence of celebrities and societal events. His journey into photography was accidental, starting in Paris with John Bishop and then moving to New York before finally returning to London. His big break came with a serendipitous opportunity to photograph Paul Getty Jr., which catapulted him into the limelight. Over the years, Young has documented a myriad of subjects, from Fidel Castro and U.S. troops in Iraq to iconic celebrities like Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor. Known for his candid and intimate portrayals, Young's work offers a unique inside look into the glamorous world of fame, capturing moments that resonate with authenticity and emotional depth. His knack for being in the right place at the right time, combined with a respectful approach to his subjects, has solidified his reputation as a trusted name in celebrity photography.
