Gold-plated Leica II model D with brown reptile body-cover in absolutely original condition. The camera was delivered to 'Baumann Reisemuster (Travelling Sample)' on March 4th, 1930 as I Mod.A and converted 1932 into II Mod. D Luxus engraved on the rear 'Leih-Camera (Loan Camera)' ! Literature: Lager I, p.32 for a similar camera no.34809. Only four Luxus Leica model D with built-in rangefinder and interchangeable lenses were officially built. In 1930 the price of the original gold-plated Leica “Luxus” with lizard-skin body-cover was twice the price of a regular version. By 1933, Leica production – in total – had already reached more than 100,000 cameras. On the other hand, less than 100 gold-plated Leica cameras were completed between 1929 and 1933. Today the original “Luxus” Leica is one of the most desirable and rare Leica cameras ever. The offered camera in fine condition, never restored and in perfect working order.
